The switch to a green lifestyle means giving back to your health and your planet.
Albert Einstein once said, “We shall need a substantially new way of thinking if humanity is to survive.” As our beloved planet is in a time severe pollution, global warming, deforestation, wildlife extinction, human illness, and more, there’s still hope for change in our everyday lives for a cleaner world and for our children’s children. It won’t be easy to drop our inhumane habits, but all it takes is a little bit of patience, determination, and knowledge. The list of benefits and ways we can live a greener life goes on for miles, but here are just five key values you might want to consider that might change you for the greener good.
Joining the green trend means surrounding your body in an honorable environment to live in. Remember, what we put into the environment is what we get back considering our health. Choosing to invest in eco-friendly home appliances, products, food, and transportation lessens the energy and carbon emissions that do damage to our atmosphere. If we can start embedding green habits into our daily lives, like simply recycling, the difference in our planet will allow it to supply clearer oceans, fresher air to breathe, and cleaner landscapes in which we depend on.
When your mental and emotional health responds to a naturally derived culture, you’re physically being will spontaneously follow. When you change one element of your life to an environmentally conscious pattern you’ll always be looking for other ways to make a difference. Let’s take your daily commute routine for example. Choosing to ride your bike to work, walk or take public transportation not gives you a peace of mind of emitting less energy and fossil fuel into our breathing air but you’ll definitely benefit from being physically active and boost your social life. When your mindset is greener, you will constantly be on the lookout for new and different ways to save the planet. Get your creative juices flowing!
Our precious rainforests act like air purifiers for plants and human life. They are also homes to our treasured wildlife who is making their way to extinction because of our inhumane acts of destroying them. When we continue to pollute the air we are releasing greenhouse gases from burning fossil fuels such as oil, coal and natural gas. How long till we realize we can’t keep up with this anymore? As pollution accumulates into the air we breathe it leads to health issues such as asthma, allergies, and respiratory conditions.
Living an all natural and wholesome life certainly gives us a longer lifespan. Let’s look at our diets for example. If we choose to eliminate chemicals, pesticides, and hormones in the foods we consume and replace them with more antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals we are bound to dodge any diseases and illnesses. Severe health issues like obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and cancer are the leading causes of death because of excess fat, sodium, sugar and empty calories that are found in prepackaged foods and animal products. If we implement an organic lifestyle that goes beyond just our diets like choosing environmentally safe household products, cosmetics and anything else we consume, we can live a longer, non-toxic life.
It’s been scientifically proven that a planet-friendly lifestyle will boost your happiness. The switch to an organic way of living enhances mood, reduces mental fatigue and an increase in concentration. You’re saving the planet! What better way to be happier knowing you’re making a difference. Not only does this relate to what you serve on your plate but your finances as well. Because your health is clean and high quality, you’ll see less hospital and health bills and insurance products that come from health complications that cost thousands of dollars (See #4 and #5). In addition, if your home is energy-saving and less wasteful, consider the value in your home to increase in the future and your electricity/gas bills to decrease in the process. What’s better than saving tons of money? You’re also teaching and leading a positive example for your kids to live an organically produced life. Spread your happiness to our future generations to live on a beautiful, greener earth!
